A Cute Frog Pond board game to practice the alphabet, numbers and words.




Help the frogs across the pond to reach their friends with this Big A3 board game. Help your child practice their alphabet, numbers, words and more.

Board Games are an excellent way to learn.  Children learn valuable skills like hand-eye coordination to social skills, brain-strengthening strategy to math and language learning as well as turn taking and being a good sport, they gain knowledge of basic concepts as they practise good listening, following directions and responding appropriately. Children also get to work on their fine motor skills as they manipulate and move the game board pieces.  The best part about board games – They are downright fun!

A good idea is to laminate the board game so you can use it over again. Print the game in A3 for better game play. Use the Frog game pieces to move across the board. With a white board marker, write the words, letters or numbers onto the lily pads. The Player rolls the die, and moves forward, which ever lily pad the player lands on, the player must then read what is written. Use a mix of words, numbers, and colours to make it interesting.

Alphabet matching game with Ice cream and Cones


Ice Cream Alphabet Match


Match up the Scoops of Ice cream to the ice cream cones. Help your little one recognize the alphabet with this fun activity. Print the Ice cream and cone mat in A3 for better game play.

This activity improves concentration, fine motor skills, memory skills and recognition of the alphabet.

Place the Ice Cream and Cone Mat onto the table. Place the Ice cream Scoops upside down onto the table. Let your child pick one ice cream scoop and match it to the mat. To make it more interesting you can time your child, say 10 seconds to each scoop. You can also work on a point system, with every correct placement; your child gets one point. If your child places incorrectly, show them where it is, but then place the scoop back in the pile, and let them pick a different one.

Build A Snowman Board Game - Practice letters, words and numbers





Play a fun and simple snowman board game. At the end of play, see how many snowmen you are able to build. Practice: letters/words/numbers.

How to play:
Place the board game on a table. Write with a white board marker the words/numbers/letters that you will be practicing into the snowballs.
Cut out the die and stick together. Cut the snowman game pieces and fold on the solid line, place the game pieces before the start snowball. Cut out the cards and place them face down on the table. Take turns to throw the die and move forward, following the die instructions. You or your child must then read what is written on the snowball, if correct, take a card. Play the game over until all the cards are finished, and see how many snowmen you can build with the cards that you have. Help your child read the words until he or she knows them before using new words.
Tip: use rubbing alcohol/surgical spirits to remove the white board marker if it does not wipe off nicely.

Play Dough Letters - Shaping letters with play dough



Make learning letters and sounds fun with this multi-sensory activity!  Kids will love making letters on these colourful, engaging templates. Before your child can write the alphabet why not let them practice shaping the letters with play dough. If you laminate these letter mats, all you do is wipe them clean and use again. Kids get to work on their fine motor skills as well as learning the sounds and names of the alphabet letters.

You will need:

Directions:
Provide your child with a Letter Mat and some play dough. Have your child roll the dough into long tubes and place over the letters. When completed, let them trace over the letters with their finger while saying the letter name and its sound.

Flipping Eggs-Alphabet - Upper to lower case matching




Learning the letters of the alphabet can be tons of fun with Flipping Eggs activity. This activity can be used for letter identification, upper- to lowercase matching, or matching the beginning sound to the letter. Also improves fine motor skills.

You will need:
  • A Spatula
  • A paper plate
  • A good idea is to laminate the sheets and then cut them out.

How to Play:
Choose how many eggs you are going to be using at one time. Place the eggs face down on a table. Provide your child with the paper plate. Your child will then pick the egg up with the spatula and put the egg on his/her plate. Your child must be able to name the letter correctly to keep the egg. This activity can also be used as a matching activity. Your child chooses the two eggs that match and puts them on the plate (upper to lowercase or beginning sounds).
